Pratap Morey is a Mumbai-based artist. He has a unique process where he uses the photographic image as a solid object, creating sculptural landscape from a collage of photographs. Trained as a painter at Indian Aesthetics from Mumbai University and Fine Art from Vasai Vikasini College of Visual Arts, his works came about as a happy accident, when he realized that the paint that has fallen on the floor, all around his feet made interesting patterns. He moved towards abstraction, and now he uses the every-changing skyline of Mumbai as his inspiration. He has participated in several curated group shows, including, The Unbearable Closeness of Being at Gallery Engendered, New Delhi (2015); the Art on Paper Biennale at the Weatherspoon Art Museum, North Carolina, USA (2014); Interstices at the Kochi-Muziris Biennale (2012); and art Virtually Real at Art Alive Gallery, New Delhi (2012) among others.
